In an odd way, we have King James to thank for the rise of Upper Deck's The Cup Hockey brand. If not for the success of 2003-04 Exquisite Collection Basketball, The Cup Hockey probably would have never come to be - especially when you factor in the impact of the 2004-05 NHL Strike. The NHL may have been coming off a strike, but in Sidney Crosby, they had hockey's equivalent to LeBron James. Suffice to say, things more than worked out.
