2014 Topps Archives Baseball isn't loaded with superstar autographs. It's not meant to be. Since the brand debuted, Fan Favorite Autographs have focused on popular players from the past, but more on a regional level. That's why the David Ecksteins and John Oleruds outnumber the likes of Mark McGwire and his fellow Bash Brother, Jose Canseco.

For nostalgic collectors, particularly from the 1980s and 1990s, the 2014 Topps Archives Fan Favorites Autographs checklist has lots of recognizable and respected standouts. The set has a total of 38 cards, all signed on-card.

Besides McGwire and Canseco, big names from the past include Rickey Henderson and Ivan Rodriguez. The set also has a few current players too, such as Jose Abreu.

The most common autographs in the product, most hobby boxes have two Fan Favorites Autographs.

This marks the first time Topps has produced numbered Fan Favorites parallels: Gold (#/50), Silver (#/25), Purple (#/10), Sapphire (#/5), Printing Plates and Red (1/1).

Part of the charm of Fan Favorites Autographs is that they often feature players who don't sign very often. For example, 2014 Topps Archives has the first certified autograph cards of Bip Roberts. It's just the second time Carlos Baerga has signed. The former All-Star's only other autograph cards were released almost two decades ago in 1996 Leaf Signature Series.
