The Crow Flies with Upper Deck in Trading Card and Memorabilia Deal

The Crow Flies with Upper Deck in Trading Card and Memorabilia Deal 1Upper Deck is continuing to expand its entertainment portfolio. Its latest license? The Crow, which started as a comic before expanding into movies and a TV show. A reboot film is also in the works.

Upper Deck's deal covers all areas of the franchise, giving them lots of material to work with.

A trading card game based on The Crow is tentatively set for March, 2015. Before that, Upper Deck Authenticated will release limited edition posters.

Upper Deck's multi-year deal also lets them produce board games, mini figures, collectible art and more. They're expected to make more formal announcements on plans for the license at the San Diego Comic-Con in July.

The Crow began as a comic by James O'Barr in 1989 as a grim tale of death, resurrection and vengeance. It was adapted into a film in 1994, but was shrouded in tragedy when its star, Brandon Lee, was killed in an on-set accident. The movie's success led to a handful of sequels and spinoffs, most of which went straight to DVD. A TV series lasted just one season.

This isn't the first time The Crow has been featured on trading cards. In 1994, Kitchen Sink Press made a set based on the first film. They returned for a second set for the 1996 sequel, The Crow: City of Angels.
