Just as the players and personnel were awarded their rings during a pregame ceremony on April 18, fans were given their own San Francisco Giants 2014 World Series ring replicas. Granted, they lacked the Tiffany diamonds that the originals have, but it still proved to be a popular stadium giveaway.
A total of 40,000 replica 2014 World Series rings were given to fans entering AT&T Park prior to the afternoon game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, a game in which the Giants won 4-1.
Dozens of the replicas were quickly listed on eBay. Some of the first rings topped $100. While prices quickly cooled, most are still going for $75 and up.
The San Francisco Giants 2014 World Series replica rings come in a custom box. Side panel have various images. Among them are the Giants celebrating at the end of the Series-clinching game, Madison Bumgarner hoisting the trophy over his head and the parade through downtown San Francisco in the days that followed.
Giants players also got their rings before the game. Made by Tiffany & Co, authentic 2014 World Series rings have 200 total diamonds. The team's logo is on top, done entirely with diamonds. One side of the ring has three World Series Trophies while the other has the player's name and an image of the Golden Gate Bridge.
This isn't the first World Series promotion the San Francisco Giants have had this year, and it won't be their last. Already this year the team has given away commemorative pennants, calendars and a snow globe. There was also a Madison Bumgarner bobblehead giveaway where he's holding both his NLCS and World Series MVP Trophies. Upcoming promotions include banners, various post-season-themed bobbleheads and even an infinity scarf.
