Playtime: 2013 OYO NFL Minifigures
Overview
When it comes to ranking the best toys ever made, the cardboard box is the clear number one. Close behind for a lot of us is LEGO. Although the brick toy maker doesn't do football (at least of the American variety), OYO Sportstoys fills the void. The 2013 OYO NFL Minifigures line includes a massive lineup of superstars and fan favorites done in the small brick tradition.
The 2013 OYO NFL Minifigures checklist has nearly 200 players. Aimed at fans of specific players and teams, all are packaged individually so that collectors know exactly which one they're getting.
Figures are in a team uniform complete with their number. Much like the old yellow LEGO men who were always smiling, there isn't much difference in the build or faces of players. Skin color varies, but not much else. Occasionally, you'll see a player with facial hair or eye black, but there's not a lot of variety. So if you're looking for long flowing locks to come crashing out of the Troy Polamalu OYO, you'll might be disappointed.
Figures have lots of moving joints, including arms, feet and wrists. This makes posing them easy.
Each NFL OYO comes with four small accessories: a helmet, football, water bottle and stand.
Given their price (expect to pay $10+ for a new minifigure off the shelf), putting together a full set of 2013 OYO NFL Minifigures is a costly venture. However, targeting specific teams isn't so hard. Every team in the league is represented by at least three figures so far. Some teams have more than ten figures in the basic 2013 OYO NFL lineup.
The OYO NFL roster isn't always static. Besides adding new players, existing figures can see a second OYO issued after they switch teams. As roster moves are made, the checklist evolves. For example, the first Alex Smith minifigure had him as a member of the 49ers. However, the company already has Smith in his new Kansas City jersey as well.
Sticking with the evolving checklist theme are first round picks from the 2013 NFL Draft. The minifigures see players dressed in suits wearing a cap.
