All cards have a close-up portrait painted by James Henry Smith (who also painted the image that's used on the Museum Collection box). Smith was also one of the contributors to the similar Canvas Collection insert set found in 2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball.
As the name implies, the cards are done on a canvas-like stock. Combine that with the somewhat intricate borders and you've got a card that's similar to the Upper Deck Masterpieces lines that were most prominent in 2007 and 2008.
Besides the basic 2013 Topps Museum Collection Football Canvas Collection cards, there are 34 Canvas Collection Originals. These feature original artwork from Smith done directly on the card. In addition to players on the main checklist, other Originals include Cordarrelle Patterson, Cam Newton and Marshawn Lynch.
