NBA, Celtics and Nets Help Springfield Armor Raise Money for Tornado Victims

The Springfield Armor's auction to raise money for tornado victims received some assistance from the NBA and Boston Celtics. The league and Celtics each donated items for the Armor to add to their charity auction.

The New Jersey Nets' D-League affiliate were already conducting an auction that included ticket packages to the upcoming season and game-worn items from their team before the additional memorabilia was added. The NBA donated a signed basketball from the 2011 All-Star Game that contains signatures every 2011 All-Star except LeBron James. They also included a John Wall autographed basketball and a Dikembe Mutombo signed basketball. The Celtics sent a team-signed basketball and the Nets sent a Brook Lopez autographed shoe.

The Armor will donate all of the proceeds from the auction directly to the Pioneer Valley chapter of the American Red Cross, to benefit victims of the tornadoes that hit Springfield and other parts of Western Massachusetts on June 1st.

The Armor will also contribute 25 percent of ticket sales from June 10th to 17th toward the fundraiser. The auction's end date was extended until June 22nd. More information can be found at the Armor's Auction Website.
