Bill Mastro's criminal matter might have ended this year, but the actions against his Mastros Auctions colleagues continue. A hearing last week confirms, however, that those proceedings will likely all end next year.
On October 30, Judge Guzman, who recently heard Bill Mastro's change of plea to guilty, held a status conference for Mark Theotikos, William Boehm and Doug Allen. All were also allegedly involved with fraudulent activity at Mastro Auctions.
Of note, according to the docket, it appears that at the status conference a "Change of Plea Hearing" was set for January 23, 2014 for Mark Theotikos.
Legal translation:Â Well, he previously pled "not guilty," so, I guess that on January 23, if he's changing his plea, he'll likely plead guilty.
The docket is quiet as to what his change of plea entitles (Reduced potential sentence? Witness for the prosecution?). We'll know more just prior to his hearing when both he and the government will file their papers outlining the full scope of the change of plea.
Also at the October 30 status hearing, Judge Guzman set a jury trial for September 8, 2014 for Doug Allen and William Boehm. So mark your calendars. This will be an interesting trial because if Bill Mastro is helping the prosecution, he might be called to testify against Allen and/or Boehm.
