As preseason baseball began, the battle over Upper Deck's bizarre trademark application for the word TRIBE wrapped up. In response to the Cleveland Indians' opposition at the Trademark Office, Upper Deck filed a cursory, one-page letter asking that its TRIBE application be withdrawn.
Legal translation: And just like that, the Indians notch their first 2014 win!
This case should have ended last November because Upper Deck had no chance of receiving a TRIBE registration. However, Upper Deck did its part to stimulate the economy by allowing Cleveland's IP attorneys to bill a hundred or so hours in preparing and filing the opposition.
Legal translation: And just like that, the attorneys with the Indians also notch their first 2014 preseason win!
I guess it might be the Indians' year right?
