John Wall’s Reebok “Gold Rush” Shoes Worth Their Weight in Gold

John Wall's Reebok On November 6th, twelve "Gold Rush" versions of John Wall's signature Reebok shoe went on sale exclusively at a Footlocker on 34th Street in New York City, which was the day after the NBA's top pick made his first appearance at Madison Square Garden. Since then, the finite nature of the shoes has led to a pair of mind boggling sale prices on eBay, the world's largest secondary market.

The limited edition Reebok Reezig "Gold Rush" Zig Slash shoes were created by Reebok in celebration of Wall's first game in the city that never sleeps. The November 5th match-up versus the Knicks was Wall's second NBA game. In the Wizards 91-112 loss, the wizard of Washington scored 13 points, dished out 7 assists and grabbed 4 boards.

The golden shoes are parallels of Wall's signature Zig Slash shoes. Each pair of the "Gold Rush" version were sold in lock boxes numbered to 12, featured additional numbering on the back of each shoe and 22 kt gold lettering.

Two "Gold Rush" versions recently sold on eBay for $999 and $923! Below is a look at the difference between Wall's regular Reebok Zig Slash and the Reebok Zig Slash "Gold Rush" parallel.

Normally, I wouldn't recommend investing in a pair of shoes outside of Nike's "Air Jordan" series, but there's something extremely cool about Wall's "Gold Rush" shoes. The fact that only 12 pairs were made and are numbered add up to a spectacular sports memorabilia investment. Like any collectible, the value ultimately comes down to the success of the player, but Wall is one of the surest stars to enter the league in years. It also doesn't hurt that he's an extremely marketable player with personality.
