Jack Miller, 9-Year-Old Cancer Patient, Gets Upper Deck Card to Raise Money for Charity

Upper Deck is honoring another brave child with their own football card to help raise money for cancer research. In a new partnership with Friends of Jaclyn, the card maker is producing a special card of Jack Miller, a nine-year-old who has been battling brain tumors for six years.

Miller was "adopted" by the Colorado State football team. The card features Miller in a Rams jersey and lists him as a Star Rookie running back with the team.

"Jack is a big part of our family, and we all are honored that he chose us to be his teammates," said Colorado State football coach Jim McElwain via press release. "Part of this whole deal in life is understanding what it takes and what it is to give of yourself to somebody else. I can't tell you how enjoyable it is, after a game, to see Jack in the locker room wearing his Rams jersey, and that smile on his face. He has taught all of us so much about toughness, determination and embracing life."

This is the first in a series of cards Upper Deck will make with Friends of Jaclyn to honor inspirational children who have partnered with various college teams.

The special Jack Miller card will be offered through the Friends of Jaclyn with proceeds going to the charitable organization. Details and pricing are not yet available.

Upper Deck will be hosting a special signing with Miller at Mike's Stadium Sportscards in Aurora, Colorado. He'll be in the store on Sunday, April 26 from 1 to 2:30PM. For those who can't make the signing or don't live in the area, signed cards will be available for $20 delivered. You can contact the shop through their Facebook page (linked above) or call 1-303-699-9808 to make arrangements.

Last year, Upper Deck produced a similar card of Jack Hoffman, a young cancer survivor who rose to national attention after running for a touchdown in a Nebraska exhibition game. To date, the Upper Deck Jack Hoffman card has raised more than $50,000 for the Team Jack Foundation to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research.
