Hockey Canada and Upper Deck Extend Trading Card and Memorabilia Deal

Upper Deck and Hockey Canada are extending their memorabilia and exclusive hockey card deal. Under the multi-year agreement, Upper Deck will continue to create cards of the Canadian national teams as well as develop more high-end pieces of autographed memorabilia.

Hockey Canada products will be exclusive to Canadian stores. However, Upper Deck does plan to continue to include national team cards in the main hockey card products that are available globally.

"We have enjoyed seeing how they are working to grow the hockey market through programs like National Hockey Card Day and we believe Canadians everywhere will enjoy the new line of collectibles they produce for Canada’s National Team," said Mike Ross, Hockey Canada's Chief Business Officer in a statement.

Jason Masherah, Upper Deck president, said, "Fans can expect Upper Deck to branch out by creating some compelling trading card releases for Hockey Canada in the future, while continuing to deliver meaningful content to existing hockey and multi-sport products."

2013 Upper Deck Team Canada, a hockey card release dedicated solely to the national squad, is scheduled to release in the fall. The set includes two autographs in every box.

Upper Deck Team Canada cards date back to 1990-91 Upper Deck Hockey, their first set for the sport. World Junior Championship cards were among the key cards in High Series packs.
