It was probably the least suspenseful kick-off of an NHL draft since Sidney Crosby went first overall in 2005. It's official -- Connor McDavid is on the Edmonton Oilers. And within minutes of being drafted, Upper Deck announced that they had signed the super prospect to an exclusive deal.
The agreement makes Upper Deck the only company where McDavid will have autograph cards. It also covers packaging and promotional opportunities.
Should McDavid crack Edmonton's roster to kick off the season, his first live NHL cards will be found in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey where he'll, presumably, appear as one of the set's Young Guns. The set is scheduled for November.
McDavid has plenty of cards already covering his junior career as well as his time with the Canadian national team.
Upper Deck currently holds the exclusive license for NHL hockey cards.
