Anchorman may not seem like a candidate to upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray. Other than the 70's suits, it's not much of a visual feast that would wow with a hi-def disc. However, the Anchorman: Rich Mahogany Edition Blu-ray
keeps it classy with a set of exclusive trading cards.
The Rich Mahogany Edition Blu-ray was originally released as a Best Buy exclusive a couple of years ago. However, it's now available more widely and the cards are still part of the package.
The Anchorman trading cards set has a total of 12 cards. Done with a retro look appropriate for the film's setting, they have old-school card stock. Card backs have detailed bios. They come packaged in as a sealed pack that's decked out with Ron Burgundy.
All 12 cards focus on the movie's leads as well as some notable supporting characters.
The Anchorman: Rich Mahogany Edition Blu-ray comes with two discs. They have two cuts of the film as well as Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie. Add to that commentary, lots of bonus features and a 32-page "diary." Specially marked copies also have coupons for free or discounted tickets to Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. If you're planning on checking out the sequel anyway, this could prove to be a very affordable pick-up once the coupon is taken into account.
