2014-15 Panini Preferred Basketball delves into a large roster that's all autographs or book cards. Mixing some old brands with a few new ones, it has the feel of a high-end mash-up.
While not all the names are stellar and the prices are on the high side, there are several things that should appeal to the risk-takers out there, not to mention those that focus on collecting via the singles route.
From a checklist stand point, there is lots from this year's rookie crop. Things may not have panned out as well as some expected at the start of the season but some of that is due to injury. Andrew Wiggins continues to be a bright spot and he's featured throughout.
There also seems to be a strong mix of veteran stars and retired players.
Perhaps the biggest draw of 2014-15 Panini Preferred Basketball is the fact that all of the autographs are on-card. As stickers continue to creep into high-end sets like Immaculate, Preferred manages to avoid them.
Among the standout subsets on the large checklist are the Silhouettes patch cards. In fact, one could argue that they've been among the most popular cards in the hobby over the last few years. Rookies have plain jersey versions that aren't all that are moderately plentiful, but the layered cards really pop with the addition of multi-colored swatches. These versions are numbered to just 25. Both rookies and veterans are included.
