The original high-end basketball product from Panini, 2014-15 Panini National Treasures is now one of several premium products in their arsenal but it still sits near the top for many NBA collectors. Rookie Patch Autographs (RPA), Logoman relics and many other low-numbered hits command the most attention from the expensive release.
Without a doubt, rookie cards, specifically RPA cards, dominate in 2014-15 Panini National Treasures thanks to the quality design, on-card signatures, nice patches and limited print run. Just like during the season, Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Elfrid Payton are seeing the most interest from collectors. Several of the RCs for Wiggins (#/99) have already sold for $2,000+. The NCAA license also allows for a college spin on the top rookies as well.
Other appealing options include NBA Logoman cards and Notable Nicknames that come with inscriptions. In addition to the real logoman relics, the manufactured Gold Logoman Autographs feature a distinct look and dark color scheme which contrasts well but it seems like gold ink should have been used instead of silver. Finally, the NT Signatures inserts offer a large signing area and a nice design.
Even with the many positives, 14-15 National Treasures continues the recent trend of sticker autographs seeping into the product. While most collectors would prefer only on-card autographs at this price point, several inserts go the sticker route.
